Domburg
Domburg is the oldest seaside resort in Zeeland and the third oldest coastal town in the Netherlands. Since the 19th century, the wide, clean sandy beach has attracted many bathers, who enjoy the beneficial effect of the sea water and the healthy sea air. Rows of pile heads shine on the beach at low tide and then disappear into the waves of the sea at high tide. From May to September the beach houses shine on the coastline of Domburg. The dunes of Domburg are equipped with benches and seats to dream away from the endless sea.
Domburg has a cozy center full of boutiques and restaurants where you can enjoy the evening sun on one of the many terraces after a beautiful day at the beach. The seasonal market, which attracts many visitors, takes place every Monday in the main street.
Just outside the village, between Domburg and Oostkapelle, the Manteling nature reserve begins, where you will find the most beautiful hiking trails through the forest area and the sand dunes. Imagine yourself in ancient times and discover the area around Westhove Castle, a beautiful castle from the 13th century with a moat and a beautiful castle garden. The Terra Maris museum, the museum for nature and landscape of Zeeland, is located in the former orangery of the castle.
You can also easily take a trip to the historic capital of Zeeland, Middelburg or the port city of Vlissingen. And the Oosterschelde flood barrier, the Veerse Meer and the Oranjezon nature reserve are also sights you don’t want to miss.
There is more than enough to do and see in and around beautiful Domburg!
